Post Visiting Angler looking for advice
I'm commin out to Lake Shasta from June 19-25 to take a buddy of mine fishing. Only problem is thats its new water for this Texan and I would like some advice. Got a Boat rented and know Salmon, Trout, and Bass well, but still would like some advice concerning baits and depths. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and anyone thats got good enough info would be welcome to come out with us for a day. Thanks

Hey Tex,

Shasta is easy this time of year. Though I only go there for tournaments now, I've been there in June many times. Top water in the morning, spooks for bigger bass and poppers will catch all sizes. If you have any over cast a crank or spinnerbait will be a good choice otherwise if its hot and clear stick to 4 and 6 inch worms. Green , browns, reds and purples work well, these are spots and aren't too picky about what bait your tossing. In the morning the fish will be shallow and moving to about 20-30 feet during midday.

It's almost summer and most of the fish have spawned and are moving toward the points, so main lake points are good; however, if you like to venture out go all the way to the back of the river arms. These places sometimes hold better quality bass.

The Sacramento arm is usually good to me along with the pit arm. If you get confused on where to go just stay close to Bridge Bay marina and fish the main lake points around there. feel free to check out my web site www.marklassagne.com

Hope that helps? You should have a good time.

Take Care
Mark
